The Town Hall is at the heart of the community; it is the home of the library, offers an extensive cultural programme, celebrates heritage, and hosts groups providing local support. Our venue is also hired out to various activity and hobbyist groups, including regular karate, majorettes, line dancing, fencing, chess and indoor bowls, among other sessions.
Silsden Town Hall was founded with the promise to “go down future generations for the cultural enrichment of the community”, promoting local education, wellbeing, and togetherness. Today, it is operated by the charity The Friends of Silsden Town Hall, relying on donations, grants, and a wider community effort. As we look to grow and deliver the promise made when this building was founded in 1883, we are looking for new trustees to help shape and secure the future of Silsden Town Hall.
We are looking for practical, collaborative individuals who are excited to oversee parts of our operation and move the charity forward in ambitious yet achievable ways. We are particularly interested in those with experience of the following:
Business Development
Human Resources (paid and voluntary)
Building Maintenance
Community Work and Fundraising
You do not need to have worked at a senior level within a large organisation. Experience gained in smaller organisations, community groups, the arts, or through professional or voluntary roles is equally valuable. It is your skillset, mindset, and care for our community that will help us secure a long and prosperous future for this valuable local asset at the heart of Silsden.
We seek individuals with the following qualities:
A practical, positive, problem-solving approach.
The ability to work collaboratively as part of a small team.
A willingness to take responsibility and action.
Comfort working in an ever-evolving organisation where systems are still being developed.
The readiness to proactively celebrate the charity’s work locally.
If you have an interest and time to offer, or would just like to know a little more about what it means to be a trustee, please get in touch. Email welcome@silsdentownhall.org.uk for an information pack and application form. The closing date for applications is midday on Friday 18th September 2026.
