Terms and Conditions of Membership

Last Updated: 01 October 2026

Revised programme applies to eligible events taking place from 1 January 2027

These Terms govern membership of Silsden Town Hall, operated by Friends of Silsden Town Hall, registered charity number 1175255 (“Silsden Town Hall”, “we”, “us” or “our”). By joining, renewing or using a member benefit, you agree to these Terms.

1. Price and renewal

The standard membership contribution is £60 for 12 months and applies to anyone joining on or after 1 October 2026.

Anyone with an active Show Club membership immediately before 1 October 2026 qualifies for a Legacy Member renewal rate of £48 for 12 months, provided membership remains continuous. The Legacy Member rate is personal and cannot be transferred. The Legacy Member rate is available for renewals completed on or before 1 October 2027. Any renewal completed after that date will be charged at the standard membership contribution rate then in force. A renewal completed by 1 October 2027 will provide a full 12-month membership period from the renewal date, and its price will not increase during that paid period.

Membership renews automatically every 12 months unless cancelled before the renewal date. A Legacy Membership must renew successfully by its renewal date to remain continuous. If it is cancelled, payment is not completed by that date, or the membership otherwise lapses, any later membership will be charged at the standard rate then in force.

We will give reasonable advance notice of the renewal date, price and how to cancel. The price for a membership period will not change after that period has begun or been paid for. We may change the price for a future renewal period by giving reasonable advance notice of the new price and the date it will apply. You may cancel before the renewal date so that the new price is not charged.

The membership contribution supports our charitable work and cultural programme and is also payment for access to the membership programme and its benefits. It is not a Gift Aid-eligible donation.

2. Transition to 2027

Existing members retain the benefits under their current membership arrangements for eligible events taking place up to and including 31 December 2026.

The revised programme applies to eligible events taking place from 1 January 2027. Existing members may book eligible 2027 benefits from the date those tickets are released, without an additional charge before their normal renewal date. Using these benefits early does not affect eligibility for the Legacy Member rate.

New members joining from 1 October 2026 pay the £60 standard rate. The benefits applying to a booking will be determined by the date of the event: the existing programme for eligible events taking place in 2026 and the revised programme for eligible events taking place from 1 January 2027.

3. Member benefits

Membership gives access to a changing programme of benefits, which may include:

  • One ticket for selected Howard Walker Presents comedy events.

  • Tickets for selected cinema screenings. The Cinema Club format is a 2027 trial and may change or end. National Theatre Live screenings and other ‘Event’ cinema are excluded unless expressly stated otherwise.

  • A 25% discount on one ticket for selected tribute concerts, unless a different discount or ticket limit is stated for the event.

  • One ticket for a selected pantomime performance, where a pantomime is scheduled and arrangements with its producer allow this.

  • Admission to selected lectures organised by Silsden Town Hall. Independently organised lectures, including those presented by Silsden Local History Group or U3A, are excluded unless expressly stated otherwise.

  • Priority booking for selected events, normally up to four days before general sale.

  • Periodic member-only drinks offers, subject to availability.

Unless an offer expressly states otherwise, a ticket or discount is limited to one ticket for the named member. Benefits apply only to eligible events promoted by Silsden Town Hall. No general member discount applies to headline events unless the relevant event listing expressly states otherwise.

Benefits are personal, have no cash value and cannot be transferred, resold, exchanged for cash or combined with another offer.

4. Availability and changes

Benefits are subject to availability, capacity, booking deadlines, event schedules and the conditions stated with each offer. Priority booking does not guarantee a ticket or a particular seat, and public availability does not necessarily mean that a member allocation remains available.

We may reasonably change, replace, limit or withdraw an individual event or benefit because of performer, producer or licensor availability; cancellation or rescheduling; demand or capacity; the outcome of a trial; safety, licensing or legal requirements; operational or financial sustainability; or circumstances outside our reasonable control.

Where practicable, we will give affected members reasonable notice. We will not use this clause simply to withdraw substantially all meaningful benefits. If we make a material adverse change to the membership programme as a whole during a paid membership period, we will offer an appropriate alternative, a fair proportionate refund or another fair remedy. A change to or cancellation of an individual event will not normally amount to a material change to the programme as a whole.

5. Value statements

Any statement that membership is “worth up to” a specified amount refers to the maximum potential face value of the eligible benefits included in our calculation for the relevant calendar year or membership season. The calculation is based on the programme planned at the date of the statement and the prices then applicable. It is not a guaranteed saving or cash value.

The value available to an individual member will depend on the final programme, event availability, capacity, eligibility and the benefits the member chooses and is able to use. Events may be cancelled, postponed, rescheduled or changed. The basis and date of the calculation will be displayed with, or clearly linked from, the relevant promotion.

6. Using membership

Membership is personal to the named member. We may issue a digital membership card and ask you to present or scan it when claiming a benefit. If you cannot use a digital card, contact us and we will provide a reasonable alternative where practicable. For verification, security, licensing or event-specific requirements, we may ask you to provide valid identification together with your membership card when claiming a benefit.

You must follow the booking instructions and claim periods supplied with each offer. Please release a ticket promptly if you cannot attend. We may suspend benefits or cancel tickets where we reasonably believe there has been sharing, resale, fraud or repeated misuse. Admission remains subject to venue rules, licensing requirements and the terms applying to the event.

7. Cancellation and refunds

You may cancel within 14 days of joining or renewing by emailing welcome@silsdentownhall.org.uk. We will make any refund due within 14 days after receiving your notice.

If you asked to use and have used a benefit during the cooling-off period, we may cancel unused bookings and, where permitted by law, deduct a reasonable amount for benefits already supplied.

You may stop a future automatic renewal at any time before the renewal date. Outside an applicable cooling-off period, membership normally continues until the end of the paid period and no refund is due, except under section 4 or where required by law.

Cancelling renewal or cancelling during a renewal cooling-off period ends continuous membership and eligibility for the Legacy Member rate. Any later membership will be charged at the standard rate then in force. This does not affect any cancellation right provided by law.

8. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms to reflect changes in law, payment or ticketing systems, venue operations or the membership programme.

If a material adverse change must apply during a paid membership period, we will give reasonable notice where practicable and provide the remedy described in section 4.

9. General

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability where doing so would be unlawful or affects your statutory consumer rights. We are not responsible for unforeseeable loss, business loss arising from personal membership, or delay or failure caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control.

We may terminate membership for serious or repeated misuse, fraud, ticket resale, abusive conduct or a material breach of these Terms. Where appropriate, we will explain the reason and allow you to respond.

We use personal information to administer membership, process payments, issue membership credentials and send service information in accordance with our privacy notice. Marketing is optional, and you may unsubscribe without ending membership.

These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If any provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply.

Questions, cancellations and complaints should be sent to welcome@silsdentownhall.org.uk

We're proud to host Silsden Local History Group at the Town Hall. They regularly host research sessions and talks from the building, which are open to all.

The History Group now house a permanent exhibition on the walls of the Town Halll. In our corridors, you'll find paintings by local artists including Joseph West, items from the history of our building and town, such as an original 'Welcome to Silsden' sign from the canal, and aerial photographs of Cobbydale. The group also have a temporary exhibition space, where they're able to display sets of items from the Town Archive, or items on loan from other nearby heritage organisations.
