About
Calling all keen detectives in the making! We have a murder mystery to solve – and we’re going to have a lot of fun while we do it. Alasdair Beckett-King, creator of the world’s finest detective, Montgomery Bonbon, is asking for your help to crack the case in his new book. In Scandal on the Stage, a playwright collapses on stage, whispering “Murder!” – but the cast all have rock-solid alibis…
Alasdair, a stand-up comedian seen on Mock the Week and Comedy Central Live, as well as the author of the Bonbon series, will show you how to walk, talk and detect like a sleuth. One with a great sense of humour.
Montgomery Bonbon: Scandal on the Stage - Montgomery Bonbon
Alasdair Beckett-King
Paperback
Bonnie Montgomery is at the local theatre group rehearsal when playwright Cynthia Cecil collapses on stage. Natural causes? Perhaps, but the world’s finest detective – and Bonnie's alter-ego Montgomery Bonbon – heard a final, unscripted word with Cynthia's last breath: "Murder!"
The cast were either within sight or backstage with rock-solid alibis. As opening night approaches, can Bonbon untangle lines from the truth, and expose a killer clever enough to get away with murder in front of an audience?
Montgomery Bonbon: Murder at the Museum
Alasdair Beckett-King
Paperback
A brilliantly funny young murder mystery from a rising stand-up comedian, podcaster and filmmaker - and exciting new talent in children's fiction.
Many people go their whole lives without noticing anything that is afoot, amiss, or even untoward; without ever experiencing that toe-tingling, stomach-twisting sensation that a mystery is about to unfold. Not Bonnie Montgomery - the world's best detective. Not that anyone (other than Grampa Banks) has heard of her... But they might have heard of the great Montgomery Bonbon, the well-dressed gentleman detective who (apart from the hat and moustache) looks suspiciously like a 10-year-old girl.
Montgomery Bonbon: Death at the Lighthouse
Alasdair Beckett-King
Paperback
The most troublesome thing about being a detective is that it is almost impossible to go on holiday.
When Bonnie Montgomery finally gets a break from cracking cases as her alter-ego, Montgomery Bonbon, something terribly fishy happens the moment she and Grampa Banks arrive on Odde Island for half-term – and it's not just the smell of the harbour. There's been a mysterious death at Leerie Lighthouse, and what everyone assumed was an accident is setting Bonbon's moustache all a-quiver: a sure sign that something is Highly Suspicious.
Montgomery Bonbon: Sabotage at Sea
Alasdair Beckett-King
Paperback
Shenanigans are once again afoot in the town of Widdlington, and this time they're on board the Dreadnowt – a galleon ship that’s set to host a fireworks display for the town. Bonnie Montgomery and Grampa Banks are on board as guests, but just after sundown, a fog rolls in and a terrible cry is heard over the crash of the waves. Captain Valancourt stumbles out of the mist, dripping wet and covered in red welts, the like of which a sea monster would leave behind, and is soon pronounced dead by the doctor on board.

National Theatre Live present a screening of The Misanthrope. Award-winning Sandra Oh (Killing Eve) plays the title role in this razor-sharp reimagining of Molière’s classic dark comedy. But the more she challenges those around her, the fiercer the backlash becomes. Soon, she must confront the price of speaking her truth in a world that would rather silence her. Filmed live on stage at the National Theatre, Indhu Rubasingham directs Martin Crimp’s (Cyrano de Bergerac) highly anticipated play.
