If we were able to go back to the day that the memorial was unveiled on Saturday, 12th November 1921, we would see an official group reverently assembled for the opening service. We would also observe fifteen children, whose fathers had been killed in the Great War.

Our volunteers are already supporting the Department of Education’s campaign to promote the ‘Go All In’ campaign with an aim to help everyone to start reading for pleasure.

The Mechanics Institute was initially run by a board of Trustees. In 1909, however, the trustees handed over the management of the building to the Urban District Council and it became officially named the Town Hall.

This year, we played host to four wonderful festive shows with Humpty Dumpty, What The Dickens, The Snowman and a Tribute to Sinatra.

This season is no exception, with four of the country's finest performing in the beautiful ballroom. Plus, we'll soon be announcing the return of four of your favourite tribute nights from the last couple of years at the Town Hall.

90's sensation D:Ream exploded onto the dance scene over 30 years ago with the iconic "U R the Best Thing," quickly followed by the globally recognised anthem for change "Things Can Only Get Better". With MTV and BRIT Award nominations, and a string of top 40 hits including "Shoot Me With Your Love", the band cemented their legacy in British dance music.

Join us for headline comedy shows from Nevermind the Buzzcocks regular Paul Foot, Edinburgh Fringe Joke of the Year Winner Mark Simmons, plus Mock the Week and Live at the Apollo star Hal Cruttenden. Howard Walker returns in September for another fresh dose of his much-loved comedy club, with three more fresh faces visiting Silsden Town Hall.
