Service Description

Wednesday Writing Club is back and this time we’ll be covering ‘Poetry to Prose’. In four classes throughout November and December, we’ll be looking at different forms of poetry from free form to sonnets. Using examples and prompts, we’ll practise different poetic devices and learn how to incorporate them into our own work. We’ll then consider how we can apply these poetry techniques to our prose to create authentic characters and vibrant worlds for our readers. As always, there will be a space to share your work in a friendly and relaxed space. Open to beginners and all abilities. About your facilitator: Kayla ‘K.M.’ Herbert is a Canadian author and poet. Her debut novel, The Book of Moons, was published in 2020 by Fisher King Publishing. She published her poetry collection Between the Spaces independently in 2019 and has performed her work at the Ilkley Literature Festival and the Leeds Art Gallery, as well as other local venues across Yorkshire. She has a BA in English Literature from McGill University and is currently pursuing an MA in Creative Writing at Manchester Metropolitan University. Her work-in-progress, Behind the Green Sky, was recently longlisted for WriteMentor’s 2023 Novel-in-Development Award.
